August 17th

So, I missed posting on August 17th. Without internet at home, I don't have many opportunities to blog as often as I'd like, but I have a few minutes here at the office before other people show up to blog a quick one...

Why August 17th? A very special person was born on August 17th... my precious friend, Kristen Fischer! In February '07, Kristen (ill with complications with her CF) was told that she would need to be put on a ventilator, and that there was only a slim chance she'd be able to come off. This was her response: "If I wake up, I'll see you. If I don't, I'll see Jesus. Either way I win!" This beautiful acceptance of God's will for her life still is so encouraging and strengthening to me.

I miss her, yet I know she is where she always wanted to be-- with her loving Jesus. I wish you all could have known her beautiful spirit! She had more life in her than most people, and when she laughed you couldn't help but join in! She had cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and other complications, but you never would have known. Few people choose to live so transparently, so open to letting the Lord live through them. There were two things Kristen all but perfected: loving God and loving people.

Looking at these pictures makes me smile!! I am truly grateful for the time we could share, and I'm truly blessed by the friendship we had.

I never really got a chance to say goodbye to her, but, it really is more fitting this way. I think if I had tried to say goodbye to her, she would have just laughed at me and told me I'd see her again one day...
