Most of you know I work in the ticket office. Working on the front-line of a resort, in constant contact with the guests, has many challenges, many rewards, and a few perks, too! This week, a few of my co-workers, Lexie, and I were able to go on a half-day lunch cruise out of Whittier.
Major Marine Tours offers an amazing way to spend the afternoon viewing tons of glaciers and wildlife. All of their trips are hosted by a Chugach National Forest Ranger on board, so it was awesome to really learn about everything we were seeing. We were able to see Surprise Glacier calving, too! (Calving is a process by which glaciers shed giant blocks of ice.) If you ever visit Alaska, definitely look into booking a cruise with this company! We had a lot of drizzly-rainy weather, but that surprisingly didn't affect the cruise at all. Here's a couple of my pictures:

Ice floating in the sound from the glacier. Apparently what we see on the surface is only about 15% |
