Hiking with Kelsey

Kelsey is one of the teenagers in a small group I taught last year... She is spunky and full of life!! We went to Alaska* together this summer, and on more than one occasion we've been confused as sisters. We try to hang out just about every Monday night, and now that the weather has turned cool, I thought it was about time for her to try out hiking.

About 10 steps into the hike I hear, "Oooh! I don't like this one bit. How do you like this?! This is not like my treadmill." She always makes me laugh. :-) She was a real trooper, though! After the "hard" part (first .2/mile) I think she began to enjoy it.

Playing on the rocks...

Enjoying the view
Kelsey & me

After we got to the top, I let her enjoy the view for about 15 seconds before telling her there was a better view up there. "Are you kidding?" ...She wasn't too excited about hiking even further uphill, but again, I think she enjoyed it. As we were walking past the cannons she went over to one and called ahead to me, "Hey! Take my picture with the cannon!" Now, just in case you don't know Kelsey too well, please understand that she couldn't care less about cannons, much less having a picture with one. I think the princess was a little winded and found a way to inconspicuously take a break. ;-)

Smog over Atlanta...

Pretty sunset on the smog-free side of the mountain.

We're going again Thursday if anyone wants to join us :-)
